Day 16 - Olympic Peninsula, Washington

-Anna cooking one of the backpackers meals ("Lasagna") that John/Lynn got Jono for his birthday, on Dunguness spit. Very tasty!

We spent last night at Kalaloch Lodge on the western coast of the Olympic Peninsula, a relaxing, beautiful and pristine spot with few people around (thanks for the suggestion, Ruth!) We went for a long walk on the beach and Jonathan even swam, the water was no where near as cold as expected (although Anna still passed.) Duxbury boy got his needed salt water fix after so much time in the middle of the country. We cooked ourselves a well-rounded meal and drank some wine, and slept like babies in a big cushy bed. Today we drove a couple hours north and found a sweet campsite – the best so far – in Dungeness Park near the ferry to Vancouver Island, tomorrow’s destination. Since this weekend marks two weeks since we’ve been on the road, we think it’s time to take a moment and reflect on some measurements of our trip (good thing we’re keeping a log!).

- times we’ve filled the gas tank: 27
- dollars spent on gas: $602.19

- times our parents have checked this website: thousands
- times we’re going to get made fun of by our friends for having written this online journal: too many just by Dave alone

Goodnight.
